Posted in Uncategorized on October 4, 2007 by jared0220alright i am in Ireland right now and it is certainly beautiful. i stopped over in England and while i was there, two big soccer (football) games were on. so what did i do, that’s right i went to a pub, and watched both games on huge screens with great beer. every one was cheering and screaming. it was great. maybe someday that will be us. plus my team won and it doesn’t get better than that. i miss you all. are you all brewing tonight? let me know how it goes. peace, jared
a nice brew tour
Posted in Uncategorized on September 24, 2007 by jared0220
while in Cleveland, Jaime and I went on a tour of the Great Lakes Brewery. It was interesting, though the whole time i was thinking we could do this. the warehouse it self was very unorganized, stuff everywhere and the tour seemed hap-hazard. (not to mention that they take some mega-brewery short cuts like mechanically speeding up the fermentation and force carbonating their bottles this is never very impressive.) it was interesting because the beer was good and the brewery itself is very successful. it made me think about how important presentation is and how your need to be able to tell about your passions. for one of the first times in my life i understood the process and what the equipment was for. really it was just a larger scale of what we do. how exciting to think that some day we will giving tours of our brewery and sharing the story of our birth. i can’t wait. you can check out their website here.

brewing FRIDAY not thursday
Posted in Uncategorized on September 12, 2007 by jared0220please read this and note that there has been a change in plans. Those of us that work at aldea have a staff meeting thursday night and i completely forgot about it. so we are not going to be able to brew thursday night. so here is the new plan i hope it works.
Jamie and i were thinking about friday night at 6. we were thinking about making it an evening of food, beer bottling, beer brewing, and bread making. those of you with kids are welcome to bring them. we can all eat together and your kids are welcome to go down to sleep here. does that sound good? i am sorry about the sudden change, i forgot about this meeting. i have talk to most of you and it sounds like this works. so e-mail us all back and let me know. i am send this out as an e-mail and posting it on the blog so that we get used to using it as well. so you all friday, jared

jareds brew email
Posted in beer, brewing, general, process, research on September 11, 2007 by Tomhey all I am posting jareds email regarding brewing. I am doing this so that we get used to using the blog. Lets each check it daily for info on what’s going on as well as sharing recipes, learning, beer jokes, and other fun stuff
hey everybody, how are you all doing?
i just wanted to throw a heads up out there. after getting most of your feedback, we have decided to brew at our house. we are going to bring the equipment and all down here. this was decided for a couple reason 1. brewing up at the church was a sort of a sterile environment and there was a lot of standing. we are hoping that at our house brewing can be more community oriented.
2. we are making bread with the spent grains and it is easier to have all that equipment at hand.
3. though the drive will be a pain for some (and for that i am sorry) but it is actually closer for the majority of us. (mainly i am sorry to kevin and aaron, but with good beer, good food, and good company maybe we can make it worth your while.)
Noah and heather, i believe you all agreed to pick out the receipt, which i saw you did on the blog, thank you. can you both pick up the ingredients at brew you own brew? let me know if there are problems with this. also, we will all need to start chipping in for ingredients so we can pay those back that have paid so far. but soon that is what the bread will take care of.
i can’t wait to see you all soon. how does 5:00pm thursday sound? jared
brewing this thursday
Posted in beer, brewing, general, process, recipes, research on September 10, 2007 by Tomhey all, last thursday was a blast! this thursday we were thinking of mixing it up and brewing at the Perkins home rather than at the church. Jared, can you fill us in as to what time? This week we not only have to brew a batch, we also have to bottle, so let’s keep that in mind.
also who is getting the ingredients? Heather found a recipe similar to Alaskan Amber Ale, should we give that a shot?
